Fried rice, with its AROMATIC flavors and delightful medley of ingredients, is a beloved dish that has captured the hearts and taste buds of people around the world. This pinnacle of human creation is not only a delicious way to repurpose leftover rice, but it also offers a canvas for culinary exploration and personalization. Today, on the Jwuon Chung Show, we'll be teaching you how to make the epitome of human culinary invention, Fried Rice.
(Philosophical) Directions
- Heat a large frying pan or wok over medium-high heat. Add vegetable oil and let it heat up.
- If using protein like chicken, beef, or pork, cook it first until it's no longer pink. If using shrimp, add it later as it cooks quickly. If using tofu, you can add it directly or fry it separately until golden brown.
- Push the cooked protein to one side of the pan, creating space in the center. Add a bit more oil if needed, then pour in the beaten eggs. Scramble the eggs until they are cooked but still slightly moist.
- Add minced garlic and grated ginger to the pan, and saute for a minute until fragrant.
- Add the mixed vegetables and stir-fry for a few minutes until they are slightly tender. If using frozen vegetables, make sure to thaw and drain them beforehand.
- Add the cooked rice to the pan, breaking up any clumps with a spatula or wooden spoon. Stir-fry everything together, combining the ingredients evenly.
- Drizzle soy sauce and sesame oil over the rice mixture. Toss well to coat the rice and distribute the flavors. Adjust the amount of soy sauce according to your taste preferences.
